Are You Graduating?
Az-Zahra Madressah will be holding our Annual Award and Recognition Program. We will be recognizing the following achievements:
Madressah preschool graduates, Madressah graduates entering Academy, high school graduates, college and university graduates, as well as the commitment and dedication of all our volunteers.
If you or anybody you know is graduating from high school or college this academic year, please let us know so that we can recognize them. Please send an email with name and achievement to Zahra Sajjad at zahras@aol.com by May 24th.
IMAN Center of Kirkland
The Ithna-asheri Muslim Association of the Northwest (IMAN) situated in the greater Seattle area, is appealing for your help and support towards the development of the new IMAN Center of Kirkland. Everyone is requested to join hands in pursuit of the development of this new center in northwest USA that will prove to be a beacon for humanity and the Islamic message as taught by Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his purified family, as we seek closeness to Allah (SWT).
Your duas and personal generous donation towards the project will be highly appreciated.
IMAN APPEAL
UMAA Achievement Award
The Universal Muslim Association of America (UMAA) solicits nominations for the boys and girls from ages 15 to 22 years to receive the following 2008 UMAA ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS for Academic Excellence and Community Service at the sixth annual UMAA Convention.
1. UMAA Achievement Award for Outstanding Community Service
2. UMAA Achievement Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement
Anyone interested in nominating member(s) of our community should email the name and address of your nominee(s), along with their background and achievements to the UMAA Secretary at hemani@umaamerica.net, no later than May 10th.
The successful nominees will be recognized at the concluding ceremony of the sixth annual UMAA Convention on May 25th.
NATL Young Leaders Summit
On July 9th - 12th, the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) will hold its second annual National Muslim American Young Leaders (NMAYL) Summit in Washington, D.C. providing 25 of the nation's top young leaders exposure to the inner workings of the nation's capitol, while simultaneously providing government officials and Congressional leaders with the opportunity to learn what is on the minds of young Muslim Americans.
The Summit is designed to enhance the civic identity of the participants, and to redefine the image and provide a voice for young Muslim American leaders among the policymaking and opinion-shaping community.
One of our youth members, Mohamed Sabur was a participant in this program last summer and he found it to be an amazing and worthwhile opportunity. Anyone interested in knowing more about this program or would like help in filling out the application can contact him at msabur@gmail.com.
