Competition Rules
Please take the time from now to practice with your child.
This year's rules are as follow:
1) Grade Level: a student's normal grade level which s/he participates for all subjects except Qur'an.
2) Qur'an Level: a student's Qur'an level where he participates in learning Qur'an. This may or may not be the normal grade level where s/he studies other subjects.
• Students will memorize Surahs according to GRADE level; teachers will test according to their Qur'an level.
• Pre-school, Kindergarten, First and Second Grades will memorize surahs in ARABIC only. No translation needed.
• Third Grade to eighth Grade students will memorize and recite in Arabic one ayah (sentence) at a time, then recite its English meaning.
• No first and second place for Pre-school and Kindergarten grades. All students will be awarded Participant with Effort if successful.
• Tajweed (rules of reciting Qur'an) grading will be conducted with students in the 3rd Qur'an LEVEL (not 3rd Grade).
• Each tajweed rule mistake is counted as ONE mistake.
• If the same mistake is repeated count as ONE mistake.
• Give chance to repeat if one mistake
• In English close meaning to the one given is acceptable
for example : bounty= abundance=a lot
• First place = 0 to 1 mistake
• Second place = 2 mistakes
• Third place = 3 mistakes
• Participant with effort = 4 mistakes
• Participant = 5 mistakes or more and know 50% of the surah.
• Sickness = Take the test within a maximum of five (5) days after the day of the competition
• School activity = Student will take test prior to the competition date.
• Weather related = Take the test within a maximum of five (5) days after the days of the competition if living in the twin cities area. If living outside the cities (2 hours or more), they can be heard next regular school day. |
